Other Construction and Mining Labourers refers to members of this unit group that are not elsewhere classified. These Labourers work under the supervision of a manager and typically perform routine tasks involving physical labour.

Duties and tasks

  • Assists craft workers
  • Cleans and prepare sites
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools
  • Performs tasks involving physical labour at sites including building, demolition, tunnel or highway
  • Removes asbestos, lead and other hazardous waste materials
  • Sets braces to support the sides of excavations

Skills required

  • Able to climb, stand, bend and lift heavy items
  • Computer skills
  • Experience operating a variety of tools and equipment
  • Good physical stamina
  • Self-motivated

Working conditions
