Other Building and Engineering Technicians refers to members of this unit group that are not elsewhere classified. Technicians oversee the safety and maintenance of a building.

Duties and tasks

  • Approves and assigns plans that meet required specifications
  • Determines whether or not a structure is in compliance with specifications, building codes and other requirements
  • Develops a schedule for on-going maintenance
  • Maintains daily logs and documents with photos
  • Trains and supervises other workers
  • Uses engineering skills to inspects a structure to determine structural soundness

Working conditions

Other Building and Engineering Technicians often work alone and travel to various sites. Technicians generally work a 40 hour work week.
