The New Technology Alignment subject is designed to map to the following Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) skill set and level of responsibility;

Emerging Technology Monitoring (EMRG):

  • Overall description: The identification of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies and products, services, methods and techniques and the assessment of their relevance and potential value as business enablers, improvements in cost/performance or sustainability. The promotion of emerging technology awareness among staff and business management.
  • Level 5 description: Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies. Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assesses their relevance and potential value to the organisation, contributes to briefings of staff and management.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. monitor the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies
  2. identify new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise, assess their relevance and potential value to the organisation, contribute to briefings of staff and management.
