OUA Pathway students also have the opportunity to study up to two free* preparatory units during their pathway studies. These units are ideal for students who either haven't studied before or haven't studied in a while, as they are designed to introduce them to online learning and what's required to achieve academic success. Students can enrol in these units at anytime during their pathway studies.

Learn more about OUA Pathways.

*The two free preparatory units are PREP03 Preparing for University Learning Intensive and PREP04 Preparing for Academic Writing.

Graduates will be ready for work in Journalism, Public Relations, Business Communications, New Media, Film and Television. They will be prepared to excel in administrative, marketing and creative roles in the cultural communications industries. This degree will be the backbone to a successful career in communication and related fields.

Students may be able to receive credit for previous studies conducted at other institutions. Please contact the Open Universities Australia Officer, Griffith (OUA) Services at Griffith University.

You can pay fees in one of two main ways:

Eligible OUA students can apply for loans through the Commonwealth government's Higher Education Loan Programme (HELP), which allows you to defer your fees. You pay back the loan through your taxes once your income reaches a certain level.

There are currently two types of loan:

Course loan
(HECS-HELP)
  • Australian citizens
    OR
  • Permanent humanitarian visa holders

After you've been admitted into an application course. (That's why we call it a course loan.)

If you complete units from different universities, each university will ask you to apply for HECS-HELP.

Unit loan
(FEE-HELP)
  • Australian citizens who will undertake, in Australia,
at least one unit of study
    contributing to their course
    OR
  • Permanent humanitarian
    visa holders who will be
    resident in Australia for the
    duration of their unit
    OR
  • Permanent visa holders who
    are undertaking bridging study
    for overseas-trained professionals
    , and will be
    resident in Australia for the
    duration of their study

When you enrol in OUA units without having been admitted into an application course.

If you're studying OUA units to become eligible to apply for this course, we recommend using FEE-HELP for them. Once you've completed the units to the required standard you can apply for the course and, once admitted, switch to the course loan (HECS-HELP).

FEE-HELP
You can pay your fees upfront - in full at the beginning of a unit - using:
