An introduction to the basic language of design and to key issues and processes of designing interiors. Students will engage in abstract thought and experimentation in topics such as transition, spatial, navigation and interiority. Appropriate modes of communication, individually and collectively through drawing, modelling, speculation and reflection will be developed.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. identify and analyse design elements in the environment
  2. apply techniques relevant to observation, process and design outcomes
  3. synthesise information from a range of sources to create an informed design resolution
  4. reflect, speculate and critique own work during its formation and resolution.
