This unit provides students with an opportunity to further develop their skills and conceptual approach in the areas of animation, 3D and motion graphics. It encourages students to explore established conventions, visual styles, animation techniques, audio design, narrative structures, and screen language in their own work.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. analyse a wide range of past and current animated and time-based works
  2. visualise and reflect upon the dynamic relationship between space and time, audio and visual mediums of animation
  3. develop and apply management skills
  4. implement relevant technical and conceptual skills in project based works
  5. create an advanced animation or motion graphics work to industry standard

  • Assignment 3 — Final Animation (40%)

There are no prerequisites for this unit.

Note: Level 3 units normally assume a moderate level of prior knowledge in this area, eg from studying related Level 1 and 2 units or other relevant experience.

  • Audio/Visual equipment — Computer capable of running project-relevant animation software
  • Other special requirement — Relevant Animation Software (eg. Adobe Creative Cloud, Maya, zBrush etc)
