Massage Therapist

Massage Therapists use massage and other body treatments for health, fitness, and therapeutic purposes. They utilize a variety of techniques to deliver maximum benefits for clients.

Duties and tasks

  • Advising clients on how to improve circulation and decrease muscle tension
  • Assisting with healing by applying a variety of massage techniques
  • Interviewing clients and potential clients to determine specific needs
  • Massaging tissues to relieve pain and prevent future illness
  • Providing clients with ideas on relaxation and stretching techniques
  • Setting up massage and therapy plans

Working conditions

Massage Therapists work in a variety of conditions. They may work for large chain massage centres, for smaller family-owned facilities, or they may work on a freelance basis from their home or small studio.
