This core unit explores sustainable business practice from the perspectives of opportunities created and responsibilities and accountabilities incurred through commercial, environmental, social, people and governance practice in business. The unit aims to contextualise the pace of change concerning sustainable resource usage, accountability for management across capitals and associated opportunities risks for business, by a focus on value creation for a broad range of stakeholders and  business responsibilities as corporate citizens.

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  1. Develop & apply developed knowledge of sustainable business practice and challenges associated with the global sustainability agenda  to analyse business opportunities and challenges, both individually and in groups
  2. Appreciate and apply business model frameworks to explore value creation for stakeholders through the lens of business sustainability goals in a changing global environment.
  3. Critique business practice from the perspective of organisational and individual resilience in responding to sustainability change agendas
  4. Critically analyse the business case for value creation through integrated capitals management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Citizenship.
