Computer Network Professional

Computer Network Professionals perform a variety of duties including researching and analyzing network strategies and make well thought out recommendations upon their findings. They work with both computer hardware and software to give businesses optimum performance capabilities as well as provide user support and troubleshoot and diagnose issues within the network.

Duties and tasks

  • Analyse, develop and evaluate systems and specifications of computer systems
  • Assess network operations, software, hardware and systems and make recommendations for improvements
  • Create procedures for network inventory
  • Diagnose and find resolutions for network faults
  • Monitor traffic and activity for integrity and optimum performance
  • Provide maintenance for networks
  • Provide specific network programming for individual companies
  • Research and monitor the infrastructure of networks for the best performance
  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide support and solutions

Working conditions

Computer Network Professionals almost always work in climate controlled areas as most networks are created for moderate to large size businesses and companies. It can be stressful, especially in the event a network goes down and a business cannot operate without it. Although most Computer Network Professionals usually work the traditional business hours, many are on-call for emergencies.
