What does a computer network professional do?

Careers in computer networking can involve anything from setting up computer networks, to troubleshooting and maintaining them. Computer network professionals deal with network hardware and software, making sure performance is optimal with minimal downtime.

Duties and tasks

  • Assess network operations, software, hardware and systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Create procedures for network inventory.
  • Diagnose and find resolutions for network faults.
  • Monitor traffic and activity for integrity and optimum performance.
  • Provide maintenance for networks.
  • Research and monitor the infrastructure of networks for the best performance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide support and solutions.
