The IELTS Online General Training course is specifically designed to prepare students to sit the International English Language Testing System test, and consists of four subjects: Reading (IELTS110), Writing (IELTS120), Listening (IELTS130) and Speaking (IELTS140). The course focuses on language and skills for the IELTS Test, and combines interactive teaching and learning activities with practice tests, tips, and test-taking strategies. You can log into the course 24 hours a day, seven days a week and work through these subjects at your own pace. Each subject should take you approximately 25 hours to complete, for a total of approximately 100 hours for the full program.You can complete practice tests in all four modules. This subject allows teachers in higher education to advance their understanding of contemporary assessment practice by a critical engagement with contemporary assessment literature. From this foundation, students have the opportunity to examine how assessment is woven into the teaching and learning cycle and design and develop assessment instruments appropriate to Higher Education.

Principles and Practices of Assessment and Evaluation

This subject considers the knowledge and skills required to facilitate engaging learning experiences within applied learning settings. In the subject, you will examine the theoretical underpinnings of learner and teacher engagement in a range of contexts, including face-to-face and online, and develop and evaluate techniques aimed at increasing levels of engagement. Through practical assessment tasks, you will develop your facilitation skills and explore ways to increase participation of learners. Students will examine curriculum concepts, and establish a familiarity with instructional design that focuses on inquiry-based and evidence-based learning approaches.Students will also be introduced to contemporary approaches to valid and reliable assessment of health professional learners, and be provided opportunities to develop and implement authentic assessment items, as well as practical experience in assessment. You will then explore ethical, moral and legal issues as these relate to your practice as an educator of health professionals. This will include a critical evaluation of your own teaching and learning practice. Scholarly evidence will be combined with practical community wisdom as important sources of your learning.
The overall aim is therefore to provide you with a firm foundation of the theories, applications and priorities informing contemporary health professional education, and support you to relate and apply knowledge to your context.
