Mechanics Assistant
Mechanics Assistants (classified as "Other Miscellaneous Labourer's") perform a variety of tasks assisting Mechanics to repair, operate and refurbish vehicles. They install, repair and replace mechanical parts in automobiles and should have knowledge of automobile processes and composition.
Duties and tasks
- Assist auto mechanics to repair and replace damaged or defective parts of an automobile
- Assist with assembling and re-assembling mechanical apparatuses
- Facilitate oil changes and changing filters for customers
- Inspect automobiles upon completion of work to ensure performance standard and check that specific functions are operating
- Perform special requests and functions from customers regarding mechanical parts of vehicles
- Provide routine maintenance for customer vehicles, ensuring automobile parts are properly functioning and in line with safety standards
- Use a variety of tools and equipment to fix and replace parts on vehicles

Working conditions
