Refrigeration Mechanic

Refrigeration Mechanics perform routine installation, maintenance, and repair work on refrigeration systems. They may also perform initially assembly of systems domestic, commercial, and industrial.

Duties and tasks

  • Checking installed refrigeration systems for faults or problems
  • Fixing issues in refrigeration systems as needed
  • Soldering and welding equipment into place as needed
  • Studying drawings and blueprints to determine project specifications
  • Working with hand tools such as drills to install refrigeration equipment
  • Writing and submitting reports on resolved issues

Working conditions

While Refrigeration Mechanics may be based out of a central office, their workplace will vary day by day and job by job. As the work is installation and repair of systems, they may work in private homes, commercial offices, industrial warehouses, etc.
