About this subject
Upon completion of this subject students should be able to:
- Apply appropriate models to explain principles of causation in accidents and incidents;
- Assess the efficacy of an organisation's OHSE management system with reference to applicable legislation, standards and responsibility to the common good;
- Critically review the relationship between organisational culture and OHSE management systems in organisations;
- Devise an element of an OHSE management system to manage risk, facilitate the investigation of accidents, or to communicate OHSE information to stakeholders.

Developed by an award-winning team of experts*, from an extensive research and industry collaboration, this subject introduces students to the structure, content and activities that make up an OHSE management system. These include strategic planning, developing, implementing and reviewing such systems. In addition current thinking about the place of safety management systems within the modern organisational environment and new ways of influencing human behaviour for safety will be introduced.
