About this subject

  • On completion of this course students should be able to achieve the following learning outcomes:

    1. Analyse the current contemporary issues, both nationally and internationally, that have an impact on the provision of care to the acutely ill adult
    2. Identify and analyse the indicators of clinical deterioration
    3. Evaluate the need for and use of, a rapid clinical assessment system 4. Apply the ABCDE clinical assessment system to the identification and initial interventions required to manage the clinically deteriorating patient
    4. Identify priorities of care and nursing needs for the deteriorating acutely ill patient
    5. Discuss the psychosocial -considerations that impact an acutely ill person and their family during an episode of care
