About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an enhanced understanding of French syllabification, liaison, stress and intonation patterns;
- resolve clear, standard French speech into its meaningful elements;
- demonstrate increased competence in recognition and application of appropriate linguistic markers for different situations;
- communicate orally with reasonably fluency on familiar/prepared topics in both informal and formal situations; and
- apply strategies for turntaking, monitoring mutual understanding and repair of misunderstandings in oral discussion.
- Topics will be available to enrolled students in the subjects Learning Management System site approximately one week prior to the commencement of the teaching period.
This subject extends students' competencies in the production and comprehension of oral discourse in French to a high intermediate level. It involves studying phonological elements of the language, including pronunciation, syllable structure and intonation, and sentence rhythm. By studying this subject, students will also develop the capacity to engage appropriately, and with relative fluency, in oral discourse across a range of situations.

Assessment 5 Oral Examination: 1100 words (equivalent). Relates to Learning Outcomes 1-5- Aural comprehension and pronunciation assessment (20%)
