About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of plagiarism, paraphrasing and the principles of Academic Integrity
- independently access, interpret and synthesise research
- evaluate educational research design, methodologies, methods and findings from different perspectives
- evaluate how research can ethically contribute to educational practices in learning and professional contexts.

This subject was previously known as Foundations of Educational Research.
This subject introduces students to the foundations of educational research. Students will learn about how to access, interpret and communicate with educational research. Through the use of interesting and compelling case studies of research controversies and projects, students will learn to evaluate the ethics, politics, methods, purpose and findings of research. Students also explore key and emerging approaches to conducting educational research with the purpose of critically evaluating research from different perspectives. By completing this subject, students will be prepared for postgraduate studies and to critically interpret and use educational research as part of their studies and professional practice.
