This unit is taught under the ongoing supervision of Yolngu elders and educators and is offered subject to their approval. You will study and translate a variety of texts in Yolngu languages. You will also embark on a supervised research project in Yolngu languages, depending on your location and access to speakers of Yolngu languages.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to develop a working knowledge of:

  1. a Yolngu view around a topic of particular interest to them
  2. Yolngu vocabulary based on the chosen topic.

Depending on the project students may also develop a working knowledge of:

  1. Yolngu research protocols and Yolnu IP
  2. Yolngu languages other than Gupapuyngu.

This unit addresses the following topics.

1A student will chose their own topic and work with texts based on that topic
