About this subject

  • Upon completion of this subject, students should be able to:

    1. Explain the different perspectives and conflicts of interest that can arise over different uses of the sea
    2. Explain the international regulatory framework and the main international regimes applying to the oceans and ocean uses
    3. Demonstrate an interdisciplinary understanding of maritime policy issues from both a national and international perspective
    4. Demonstrate an understanding of key conceptual approaches (including constituent principles and analytical tools) applied in public policy development and regime building within the context of maritime management and oceans governance
