About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- critically appraise the design, applicability and utility of research studies in health research
- assess factors affecting credibility of data and explain the limitations of research paradigms
- critically appraise research design for the intended respondents
- identify and apply ethical and practical considerations in conducting health research
- recommend and justify the most appropriate research approach to evaluate a health problem.

This subject was previously known as Research and Evaluation in International Health.
This subject covers the theory and practice of qualitative and quantitative research processes and the complementary use of these methods in applied health research and evaluation practices. Various qualitative and quantitative research methods and issues that contribute to credible evidence will be discussed. Ethical considerations of conducting research in a variety of health settings.
