About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- use theories of leadership to reflect critically on personal values, leadership qualities, flexibility in leadership style and ethical behaviour.
- discuss the role of different leadership capabilities in creating effective teams, influencing decision-makers, promoting learning and encouraging diversity.
- analyse the challenges of leading change and innovation.
- analyse creating systems for change in complex and uncertain contexts.

This subject introduces students to the theory, principles and practice of leadership in health. It offers the opportunity for students to develop their own personal leadership style and public health professional identity. Students explore the development of leadership skills and strategies related to teamwork and collaboration, organisational capacity building, and the management of change. Students also examine organisations as leaders within complex adaptive systems.
