To be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate in Professional Nursing (GCertProfN), a student must acquire 40 credit points as prescribed below:

Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Professional Nursing, applicants must hold:
- a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
AND - current or temporary unrestricted registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Degrees from overseas institutions must be assessed as equivalent to a recognised Australian accredited degree.
- a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
The School of Nursing and Midwifery has instituted a Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE) procedure for registered nurses who do not have an undergraduate qualification. Applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate eligibility requirements. The School of Nursing and Midwifery will determine eligibility for admission into the requested program based on application, curriculum vitae and referee reports.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous studies were completed in a country other than Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or the United States of America or undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry into this program are as follows:
- Successful completion of at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English. At least two years of this education must have been between Grades 7 and 12. This education must have been taught and assessed in English and completed in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America.
- OR the International English Language Testing System Academic module (IELTS Academic module) with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
- OR the Occupational English Test (OET) with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
- OR the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
- OR the Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) with a minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum scores in each section of the test: 24 for listening | 24 for reading | 27 for writing | 23 for speaking.
All applicants who hold current unrestricted registration as a Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) are deemed to have met the English language requirements for admission to the program due to the requirements outlined in the Registration Standard (English Language Skills) set by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
English test results must be no more than two years old.
The Direct Entry Program (DEP) pathway is not accepted for this program.
