What you'll learn

Bachelor of Business

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to: 

  1. Acquire and apply discipline specific knowledge and skills related to business and organisations (Discipline Knowledge).
  2. Communicate information effectively in written and oral forms with a diverse range of stakeholders (Communication Skills).
  3. Apply critical and analytical skills to the identification and evaluation of complex business problems and draw logical conclusions (Critical Skills).
  4. Work both independently and collaboratively to achieve agreed team outcomes (Teamwork).

Bachelor of Economics

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to: 

  1. Collect, analyse and interpret data combined with the application of a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of economics to make evidence-based decisions.
  2. Communicate economic reasoning, knowledge, ideas and empirical evidence in ways appropriate to the audience, purpose and context.
  3. Critically evaluate economic problems and assess policy issues, using a broad range of economic tools.
  4. Collaboratively interact with peers to reflect on ethical issues and the potential differential impacts of economic policies across local, national or international economies.
Career opportunities

A double degree increases your career prospects and maximises your employability. A double degree can help you build a unique set of skills that will help you stand out in a competitive employment market. When you graduate from a double degree you will receive a separate degree certificate (also called a testamur) for each component program. 

Entry requirements

Higher education via OUA

Successful completion of any 4 OUA open access subjects of study at the equivalent AQF level, unless otherwise specified

Higher education

  • Successful completion of 2 undergraduate subjects (2 x 12.5cp minimum) as part of a course at Associate Degree level or higher; OR
  • Completed DUS (Diploma of University Studies) any pathway or equivalent; OR
  • Completed UPP (University Preparation Program) or equivalent.

Secondary education

ATAR: 65 or higher

VET studies

Successful completion of certificate IV or higher

Work and Life

Domestic Applicants with work and life experience: If you have not successfully completed senior secondary, tertiary or TAFE/VET study, but have extensive or sustained work experience.

Description

This is a shell course used for the administration of four-year Double Degree programs. Students will enrol in the shell course and complete the requirements of both constituent courses. Course content, rules and entry requirements are those for the constituent courses. Constituent courses include all those with 300 credit points, of which at least 100 credit points are electives.

In our Bachelor of Business you can follow your passion, with the opportunity to build a degree from your choice of majors. You’ll also be able to cross-skill by undertaking electives or a second major from the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics or another area of the University.


Bachelor of Economics

With a Bachelor of Economics, you will develop a detailed understanding of how decisions are made by individuals, firms, and governments through analysis of micro and macro economic environments for business and the broader community.

Recommended Study Pattern

In a 4 year double degree you will complete a total of 400 credit points comprising 200 credit points from each program.
