Quality Controller

Quality Controllers examine products and produce and assess these products or produce for quality. They also ensure that products and produce meet established industry standards and specifications.

Duties and tasks

  • Collecting products or produce for assessment
  • Examining produce and assessing its conformity to health and safety codes
  • Examining products for cracks, tears, rips, or other inconsistencies
  • Familiarising self with industry standards and specifications
  • Filing reports and keeping records as needed
  • Grading or ranking produce according to its quality

Working conditions

Quality Controllers may work in a variety of settings. They may work in-house for private businesses and assess quality before goods are ever put on the market. They may work for retail outlets that get their products from wholesalers or for governmental agencies, as in the case of assessing produce to see if it is fit for consumption.
