Aerobics Instructor

Aerobics Instructors are involved in assisting individuals improve and advance their fitness levels and increase their overall health and wellbeing. Aerobics instructors need to have strong communication and teaching skills as well as an understanding of workplace health and safety.

Duties and tasks

  • Assess clients fitness levels and train them accordingly
  • Assist clients with information about health, fitness, exercise and stretching
  • Conduct personal assessments and develop suitable fitness programs
  • Create and design personalised or group exercise classes
  • Evaluate a clients physical fitness, understand their requirements and develop achievable workout exercises to help them achieve their targets
  • Maintain up-to-date on all certifications and health and safety policies

Working conditions

Aerobics Instructors generally work at gyms and can perform their sessions either in a designated aerobics room or outside depending on the weather. Aerobics instructors often work early mornings or late evenings and often 7 days a week.
