About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject, students will be able to:

    1. Identify Indigenous peoples historical and contemporary contributions to knowledge relating to gender and sexuality.
    2. Use a diverse range of texts to inform your understanding of Indigeneity, gender, and sexuality.
    3. Apply appropriate theoretical frameworks to facilitate an understanding of Indigenous Queer peoples
    4. Communicate effectively, in a range of written and spoken formats, within the conventions of the discipline of Indigenous Studies
    5. Identify the potential and limitations of multidisciplinary approaches to understanding Indigenous Queer peoples

Pre-requisite: 130cp at 1000 level or above including ABSX1000 or ABSX1020 and 20cp at 2000 level including ABSX2035 or ABSX2020 or ABSX2060

    Students who have an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion under Macquarie University's Academic Progression Policy are not permitted to enrol in OUA units offered by Macquarie University. Students with an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion who have enrolled in units through OUA will be withdrawn.
