About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- apply the principles, functions and ethics of governance, management and leadership
- identify and utilise relevant methodologies for recognising, analysing, and solving problems in an organisational context
- interpret the social, stakeholder, regulatory and technological requirements that impact on information organisations
- develop and justify plans and strategies for an information organisation
- A week-by-week guide to the topics you will explore in this subject will be provided in your study materials.
This subject was previously known as Management of Information Services.
In this subject, students will learn to identify and build leadership and management capacity for themselves and others in the workplace and the profession. Key areas of learning include management theory, personal business & professional accountability, strategic analysis of the broader forces in society and technological disruption, risk management, corporate culture, change management as well as various aspects of resource management and sustainability.

Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.
Each of your subjects will be held over the course of a study term, and they’ll usually require 10 to 12 hours of study each week. Subjects are identified by a title and a code, for example, Developmental Psychology, PSY20007.
First, find the degree that you would like to study on our website.
If that degree allows entry via undergraduate subjects, there will be information about this under the Entry Requirements section. You will find a list of 2-4 open enrolment subjects you need to successfully complete to qualify for admission into that qualification.
Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
