About this subject
At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- interpret and discuss the importance of environmental health, safety and quality practices in the construction industry in Australia and internationally and the importance of quality assurance throughout all project phases
- analyse the complex relationships between quality and the various aspects of design and construction activities to enable safer work practices on construction sites that are corporate-driven
- identify and evaluate best practice in quality assurance and environmental health and safety in conjunction with real-world corporate and project case studies
- Conventional and innovative safe work practices
- Environmental Health and Safety Regulations
- Managing quality (quality assurance) through the various project phases (conceptualisation, design, construction, handover to facilities management)
- Quality assurance in Environmental Health and Safety
This subject examines the importance of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and quality practices in the Australian construction industry and internationally, with a focus on quality assurance throughout all project phases, from conceptualisation to handover to the clients. Principles of implementing and applying best practice will be discussed in relation to global quality management theories in conjunction with real-world corporate and project case studies. The complex relationships between quality and the various aspects of design and construction activities will also be discussed. The risks associated with various construction methodologies will be reviewed to identify key considerations for the selection and implementation of appropriate environmental health and safety practices on construction sites.

Single subjects are the individual components that make up a degree. With Open Universities Australia, you’re able to study many of them as stand-alone subjects, including postgraduate single subjects, without having to commit to a degree.

Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
