Master of Nursing (Leadership & Management in Health)

Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to:

1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and clinical proficiency in specialised areas of nursing practice - clinical education, leadership and management, gerontology, and rural and remote nursing - through the integration of theory, evidence, and professional standards.
2. Apply strategic leadership and management principles to influence healthcare policy, lead interdisciplinary teams, and drive quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient and system-level outcomes.
3. Design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based educational strategies that support effective clinical teaching, professional development, and capacity building within diverse and interprofessional healthcare settings.
4. Deliver person-centred, culturally safe care to older adults and rural or remote populations by applying gerontological and rural health frameworks that address complex needs, promote equity, and support community engagement.
5. Critically analyse and reflect on contemporary healthcare challenges to generate innovative, ethical, and sustainable solutions that advance nursing practice, support lifelong learning, and align with national and global health priorities.

Completed a 3-year bachelor degree in the area of nursing from an Australian university, or equivalent. Hold a current Professional Registration as a Division 1 nurse, or equivalent, with either Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or relevant regulatory body in applicant's home country. Proof of meeting the English Language Proficiency requirements is also required. IELTS (Academic) - Minimum overall score of 7.0 and a minimum score of 7.0 in each of the four components - listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Alternative English language proficiency tests may also be accepted.

Rural and Remote specialisation

Applicants for the Rural and Remote specialisation must be Registered Nurses preferably in a rural or remote workplace. Applicants will need to provide written confirmation from a rural or remote workplace indicating they have the capacity to engage in workplace-based portfolio development including work-based assessments.

All students are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. For entry to the Master of Nursing (Leadership & Management in Health) program, applicants are required to meet the Category 4 English Language Proficiency requirements.
