About this degree
Program objectives are to:
- develop a broad and coherent body of knowledge of the aviation industry with depth in the underlying principles and concepts as a basis for independent lifelong learning
- build initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in a professional aviation context
- exercise cognitive and practical skills and the ability to exercise critical thinking and judgement in practical situations
- develop written and interpersonal communication skills appropriate to the complex socio-technical aviation system
- develop and apply a range of research skills to maintain professional currency in the aviation industry and/or theoretical research methodologies appropriate to the aviation context

Career opportunities
When you graduate, you will be legally qualified to work as a professional pilot. Some airlines offer cadetships or traineeships and the Australian Defence Force also looks for potential pilots. Other aviation careers include flight instructors, tourism operators, large rural farming operations. Our Aviation staff have strong links with Australian Defence Force and industry to provide you with industry networking opportunities.
Professional recognition
Once you have successfully completed your flight training, the Australian Civil Aviation Authority will issue your Commercial Pilot Licence. This allows you to fly as a Professional and receive remuneration as a Pilot.Career outlook
