The subject begins with a broad examination of cybercrime and moves to a specific focus on cyber fraud. The subject explores contemporary criminological theoretical approaches to explaining cyber fraud, analyses offender methodologies and examines cyber fraud victimology. The subject addresses contemporary approaches to prevention and enforcement in Australia and across the world. The role of relevant government, law enforcement, regulatory agencies and the corporate and private sector in the prevention and detection of cyber fraud is addressed.

Understanding and Preventing Cyber Fraud

Financial technology (Fintech) refers to a relatively new branch of the growing and dynamic field of the banking and financial service sector. This subject covers innovations that banks and businesses can use to their advantage, including but not limited to big data analytics, artificial intelligence, robo-advising and cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Fintech equip graduates with the necessary skills to navigate the technological revolution experienced in the last decade in the financial sector.

FinTech

This subject was previously known as Online Games and Play.This subject explores the broader spaces and nature of play online, and how it relates to the development of digital forms of gaming. The nature of immersion, and its relationship to interactivity, is examined, investigating how narrative is constructed and communicated through game play. The subject provides critical perspectives on the notion of gamification and the growing area of research centred around videogame streamers and the labour ecosystem of eSports. It examines a series of gaming tropes and themes, games as texts, and the ways that games enter social frameworks to convey, refract, engage with, and resist power structures. Introduction to Learning with Technology

Information systems are a key component of every business you will ever work in. Information systems are about getting the right information to the right person when needed, to help them make the right decision. This can be costly and complicated to implement, but all systems must be able to use technology to deliver business value. We look at the framework of business forces, enabling technology and management potential that underpin information systems. Bridging technology and business needs, you will develop work-ready knowledge of contemporary information systems. Topics include business strategy, intelligence and analytics, networking and cloud computing, database management, information security, digital goods and customer profiling. Focusing on applications for business problems, you are taught how to mine real-life datasets, create data visualisations, explore data management in social media and analyse the ways to deploy cloud computing in Australian businesses.

Management Information Systems

Modern accounting information systems allow organisations to make timely decisions based on reliable data and evidence. To future proof your career, you need the up-to-date skills and knowledge to apply this technology in your role. Studying this subject will equip you with the skills to effectively use software to produce information critical to business success. You will gain practical experience using an accounting software package to generate financial statements. You will gain an appreciation of the issues and elements that underlie the practice of Protective Security and draw upon theoretical concepts, real life case studies and relevant standards. This subject will provide you with the knowledge and skills to translate and communicate theoretical concepts in Protective Security into tangible outputs for industry. This subject, together with crisis management, business continuity management, and the ability to lead resilient organisations, are collectively the underpinning foundation for enhancing organisational resilience. The subject provides you with an understanding and the requisite skills that will be interrelated with these subjects should you proceed further with your postgraduate studies in organisational resilience.

Protective Security

EMT608 Teaching Digital Technologies is designed specifically for pre-service teachers undertaking a Master of Teaching. It will analyse the distinctions between Digital Literacy (previously ICT) and Digital Technologies and explore how computers can be used, with a major focus on Digital Literacy General Capability or the Digital Technologies subject of the Australian Curriculum. This subject also provides opportunities for you to demonstrate your practical applications of Digital Literacy or Digital Technologies. In addition, you will demonstrate your capacity to design good teaching and assessment strategies, and ethically apply contemporary and emerging computer technology in your professional practice.
