Enrolled and Mothercraft Nurse
Enrolled and Mothercraft Nurses provide support to registered nurses, doctors, and midwives. They provide basic nursing care to hospital patients, residents of aged care facilities, and newborn infants and their mothers.
Duties and tasks
- Administering medications to patients and monitoring patient response
- Assisting registered nurses, doctors, and midwives in providing quality medical care
- Bathing, feeding, changing, and otherwise handling newborn infants
- Emotionally supporting the parents of newborns
- Offering advice in the realm of preventative care
- Working with parents of newborn infants to determine the most appropriate course of infant care

- Ability to orally communicate information clearly and effectively

- Caring, nurturing, and calm demeanour
- Clear and level-headed manner
- High level of interpersonal skills
Working conditions
Enrolled and Mothercraft Nurses often work in hospitals, although they may also be found in clinics, aged care homes, and facilities intended specifically for birthing.
