About this subject

  • Upon successful completion of this subject, the student should be able to:

    1. Explain the performance of the shipping market using shipping reports
    2. Compare and contrast charterers' and shipowners' responsibilities to identify common disputes that may arise between shipowners and charterers under a charter party contract
    3. Analyse the role of intermediaries in the commercial employment of ships under chartering arrangements
    4. Calculate financial returns from prospective alternative voyages to support decision-making within a shipping company
