Aged Care Leadership and Management: Effective Internal and External Integration
About this subject
Upon completion of this subject, the student should be able to:
- Explain current concepts in leadership and management theory as related to health and aged care
- Reflect on the styles and applications of leadership and management skills in an aged care context(s)
- Analyse how leadership theories can be applied to managing people in health and aged care settings
- Module 1: Aged care ethics and service models
- Module 2: Structures, systems, strategies and skills for internal and external integration
- Module 3: Transparency: performance metrics, organisational and clinical outcomes and reporting
This subject will critically examine the processes and activities to identify, monitor and improve key elements of aged care organisational functioning, within complex health networks. A review and critique of governance arrangements, including accountability and transparency requirements for staff, managers and boards will be undertaken. Requirements for performance metrics, organisational and clinical outcomes and reporting arrangements will be debated. Students will have opportunities to hear from experts across Australia and participate in industry case studies and analysis.
