About this subject

  • By the end of this 10-week course, you’ll be able to:

    1. Discuss and apply the operation of the income tax legislation and associated legislation, particularly in respect of the topics covered in the syllabus.
    2. Explain the part that case law plays in the interpretation of the legislation.
    3. Explain the basic operation of the capital gains regime and its part in the income tax system.
    4. Describe basic tax planning.
    5. Explain the administrative aspects of taxation, including assessments, amendments, objections, and appeals.
    6. Examine policy issues underpinning the income tax system.
    7. Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Accounting discipline.
