By the end of this 10-week course, you’ll be able to: 

  1. Discuss theories related to enablement and choice. 
  2. Explore the complex role of the consumer in navigating their healthcare. 
  3. Compare and contrast the rights of privacy and dignity in community healthcare settings. 
  4. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of policy related to intervention recommendations enabling appropriate referral. 
  5. Discuss the role of the health worker in enabling health consumers in community settings to express sexuality, intimacy, and fulfillment of basic needs.

Description

In this course, you’ll develop advanced knowledge of the principles that underpin self-determination in care and develop knowledge and skills to support an individual's right to make choices. 

This course covers a wide breath of topics including dignity as a human right; self-determination; consumer directed care; and advanced care directives.
