About this subject

  • By the end of this 10 week course, you'll be able to:

    1.     Have an in-depth understanding of the history and evolution of high-rise buildings

    2.     Critically review multi-story construction methods and materials used for the construction of high-rise buildings.

    3.     Gain an understanding of building dead and live loads, as well as seismic and wind loads on tall buildings.

    4.     Evaluate the logistics involved in the construction of a building such as materials handling, and people movement and the methods of demolishing a high-rise building.

    5.     Explore the use of smart building technology and sustainability of high-rise buildings.
