About this subject

• What you'll learn

  Upon completion of this subject, students will be able to:

  1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the ways different contexts of language demand different varieties of language (GTSD 1.3.1, 1.4.1, 2.1.1);
  2. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how English language works, from the perspective of a social view of language (GTSD 2.1.1);
  3. demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of and respect for the use of languages and literacies in a multicultural and plurilingual society (GTSD 1.3.1, 1.4.1, 2.4.1); and
  4. apply understanding of informal, formal, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment strategies to their own language and literacy skills and needs in personal, community, academic and professional uses (GTSD 5.1.1).
