About this subject

  • Upon fulfilling the requirements of this subject, students will have the skills and knowledge to:

    1. A clear understanding of the breadth and depth of non-traditional security issues that the world is facing world today.
    2. a critical and empirical awareness of the complexity and diversity of security threats and risks of a non-traditional nature that the world faces
    3. the ability to critically evaluate the scholarship on key non-traditional security issues
    4. develop information literacy – the skills to appropriately locate, evaluate and use relevant information on non-traditional security issues
    5. demonstrate independent research skills, critical reasoning, and persuasive scholarly writing skills.

    Students who have an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion under Macquarie University's Academic Progression Policy are not permitted to enrol in OUA units offered by Macquarie University. Students with an Academic Standing of Suspension or Exclusion who have enrolled in units through OUA will be withdrawn.
