In this introductory subject to Human Geography, you will examine the structure of Australian society, examining issues related to the changing demographic and socio-economic status of populations, and the way in which space and social structures in society interact to shape the quality of life, a sense of identity and a sense of place for people. You will be introduced to a range of policies and processes on current issues such as ageing population, urbanisation, gentrification, population growth and patterns of migration. Comparisons of these demographic and socio-economic trends will be made between urban, regional and rural Australia, and other countries. You will also be introduced to a range of theories and concepts focussed on interactions between humans and the environment.
