- Investigate how major theories of neuroscience and neuropsychology explain mental health phenomena.
- Interpret the interactions between neural function and neuropsychological processes and behaviour and cognition.
- Work collaboratively to interpret evidence to prepare and deliver a persuasive neuroscientific oral presentation in a team.
- Compare impacts of fundamental physiological mechanisms on psychological function.
- Analyse how neuropathology or pharmacologically-induced factors alter typical neural function and how this could be observed in a clinical context.
- • Neurotypical brain development and neuropsychology of neurodevelopmental disorders.
- • Healthy brains and aging , and neuropsychology of neurodegenerative disorders.
- • Applied psychoneuroimmunology.
- • Neurobiology of substance abuse.
- • The clinical neuroscience of stroke, migraine and COVID-19.
- • Neurobiological basis of multiple sclerosis.
- • Disorders of sight and motor dysfunction following brain damage.
- • Memory impairment following brain injury and illness.
- • Recovery and rehabilitation following brain injury.
In this subject, you will explore theoretical approaches to neural systems and processes relevant to a wide range of normal conscious and unconscious behaviour, and behavioural difficulties, and will provide training in the issues of contemporary cognitive neuroscience. In particular the subject will focus on clinically related aspects of neurodevelopmental, neurodegenerative, traumatic brain injury and sensory disorders. You will be introduced to neuroscientific aspects of a number of common testing procedures underlying theoretical approaches to professional practice.

Once you pass those subjects, you will satisfy the academic requirements for the degree, and you can apply for entry.
