At the completion of this subject students will be able to:
- apply kanji, grammar and vocabulary to authentic materials at JLPT N2 level
- evaluate and analyse issues confronted in urban and rural areas in Japan
- apply presentation skills in the production of a news report at advanced level
- discuss Japanese culture and sociolinguistic features of the Japanese language and compare with those of non-Japanese cultures

No additional requirements
This subject introduces students to an advanced level of Japanese, which is equivalent to N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Students learn to discuss a wide range of topics as well as substantially increase their knowledge of vocabulary and kanji. The use of online resources provides students with enriched opportunities to use Japanese.
