This subject develops students' communicative competence in the Chinese language over a wider range of real-life situations. Conversation, readings, discussions and report writing will be conducted on topics in relation to the contemporary Chinese society and culture. The cultural significance of language usage will be examined, together with systematic discussion of appropriate manners and social etiquette to enable effective communication.
