You will learn by working on industry projects, approaching wide-ranging topics from an entrepreneurial mindset, and exploring the design thinking, ethics and moral values required in tech. Throughout the course, you’ll build an awareness of the software engineering body of knowledge and apply advanced cloud computing and DevOps knowledge to various challenges, with a view towards ethics of practice in a global and sustainable context. You also have the option to exit with a Graduate Certificate of Software Engineering, a Graduate Diploma of Software Engineering (Cloud Computing) or a Master of Software Engineering (Cloud Computing).

Recommended study pattern

The course structure comprises 7 Software Engineering (SE) core subjects, 4 specialisation subjects and 2 elective subjects over levels 400, 500 and 600, as follows:

• Level 400: 4 SE core subjects
• Level 500: 1 SE core subject, 2 specialisation subjects and 1 elective.
• Level 600: 2 SE core subjects, 2 specialisation subjects and 1 elective.

Electives available to students may be chosen from the elective bank (please refer to the Course Structure on the Student HUB) or can be taken from any Torrens University course at the appropriate level with approval from the Program Director (or delegate).

Torrens University Australia offers flexible entry options and study pathways, whether you’re finishing school, pursuing career progression or looking for a change. Entry requirements for this course includes:

• AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above from an Australian University in a relevant field of study.

Students without an undergraduate degree, may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate as a pathway with:

• 3 years professional experience in software development AND a discipline specific portfolio AND a recommendation letter from 2 employers.
• Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level.
