Torrens University Australia

You don’t need an ATAR to study with Torrens University Australia—just a passion to learn

About Torrens University Australia

Torrens University Australia believes there's more to you than just a number. And that an ATAR doesn't necessarily recognise your hard work, or where you shine.

Instead, the university sees your individuality, potential and past experience as a better sign of how you might succeed in higher education. As a result, Torrens University has removed the ATAR as its key admissions criteria.

Do you need an ATAR to study with Torrens University Australia?

No, Torrens University has removed the ATAR as an entry requirement for most courses.

The university believes that the ATAR doesn’t necessarily reflect your true abilities as a student. As a result, all students with a Year 12 certificate are considered for undergraduate enrolment (there may be exceptions for some courses, so check the requirements carefully).

Those who haven’t finished Year 12 can get in through other pathways. You may be accepted through a diploma course, creative portfolio submission or student interview.

Postgraduate students will generally need a bachelor degree or previous relevant work experience to enrol.

What is it like to study online with Torrens University Australia?

Once you’re enrolled as an online student, you will conduct your coursework through a learning platform called Blackboard Ultra. This is where you’ll have 24/7 access to your subjects, letting you study when and where you like.

Each subject will require about 10 hours of study per week. You’ll spend 7 of those hours doing readings, exercises and assessments in your own time. During the other 3 hours, you’ll attend live tutorials and discussions. This lets you touch base with lecturers and classmates in real time.

All students, including online students, are partnered with a Success Coach—someone with experience in your industry who will be your guide throughout your studies. You can ask them for help with subject selection, internship opportunities, CV and interview preparation, plus any support services you may need. They will help you study and enter the workforce with confidence.
