Award requirements

To be eligible to receive the Master of Construction Practice, students must complete the equivalent of 16 units (192 credit points), comprising:

• 14 core units (192 credit points).

Exit points

Students may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Construction Practice after completing the equivalent of 4 units (48 credit points), comprising 4 core units as specified in the Graduate Certificate in Construction Practice.

To meet admission requirements, applicants must have one of:

• An Australian bachelor degree (equivalent or higher) in a related discipline which includes architecture, building science, civil or construction or structural or mechanical or architecture engineering, quantity surveying and construction project management; OR,
• An Australian bachelor degree (equivalent or higher) in an unrelated discipline and at least 2 years full-time work experience in the building and construction industry.

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements can consider the Graduate Certificate of Construction Practice as a pathway to Master of Construction Practice.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. Credit for Prior Learning, also referred to as ‘Advanced Standing’ or Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL), is the process of looking at your prior study and/or experience to assess if you can be awarded academic credit or gain entry to a course on the basis of your existing knowledge and skills.

This course includes 480 hours of work-integrated learning composed of work placement and an industry research project. Students are required to formulate and execute a research project related to the needs of industry, working in collaboration with an academic supervisor and an industry mentee.
