About this degree
Graduates of the Master of Business Administration will be able to:
- Demonstrate that they have a broad body of knowledge regarding current business theories and future directions for business, students will understand what a convincing strategic plan would be, with reference to application below, this knowledge will be applied and ‘crystallised’ in a student’s ability to develop a strategic plan, whereby a strategic plan would cover the vision and implementation issues for a whole organisation (ie the organisation and all its functional departments – HR, finance, marketing, operations, etc)
- Critically analyse and debate issues and ideas within a context of business disciplines and thus evaluate the viability of an idea against business criteria. The business criteria being expansive and pursuant to the values of responsible leadership, sustainable business and a global orientation.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an advanced general management degree designed for managers who wish to develop a solid business foundation, as well as skills and knowledge of cutting-edge business practices for the 21st century. At Griffith we offer two Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs, both are focused around our values of responsible leadership; sustainable business practices; and a global perspective with the aim of making you an effective globally responsible business leader. The two programs we offer differ in their delivery style; one is fully flexible and can be studied online or face to face in a standard 12 week trimester (MBA program 5158). The accelerated program is online only, and each course is delivered over a 6 week period (MBA program 5670). These two delivery styles allow you to choose the method of study that suits you best and both programs are assessed authentically meaning that you can apply what you learn to your workplace with immediate benefit.
In both programs you will study courses in sustainability, accounting and reporting, finance, people management, strategy and innovation and managing change through responsible leadership. Through study you will be equipped with an understanding of the key functional areas within a business and the challenges facing businesses. If you choose the fully flexible option you can choose to focus your electives in a particular area for example, finance, marketing or supply chain management. The accelerated online MBA program has twelve set courses and no electives.

Award requirements
For the award of Master of Business Administration (MBA), you must successfully Complete 120 credit points comprising:
- 80 credit points for all Core Courses, and
- 40 credit points from Listed Electives
This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA), an applicant must:
- hold any Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 (using a 7.0 point scale) and have a minimum of three years equivalent full-time work experience post-degree which includes
- two years of relevant work experience and
- one year in a role demonstrating leadership experience
- OR hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Business Administration (or an equivalent qualification) with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5. Students with a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Business Administration will receive 40 credit points of credit.
- OR hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management (or an equivalent qualification) with a minimum GPA of 4.5. Students with a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management will receive 40 credit points of credit.
Leadership can include direct supervisory experience and/or change management in an organisational or project-specific setting.
If you do not meet the required Grade Point Average (GPA) for direct admission, you may submit the result of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). The minimum requirement for GMAT is an overall score of 550.
Evidence of work experience must include a detailed work history (roles, responsibilities and achievements).
Upon request, applicants may be asked to provide:
- An Applicant Statement of Leadership Experience (maximum 750 words). To demonstrate relevance of work experience, applicants will need to provide a statement detailing examples of applied leadership skills and how their experiences will be complemented by the Master of Business Administration (MBA) along with a sound knowledge of the Griffith Business School values.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
English test results must be no more than two years old.
International students who successfully complete the Direct Entry Program (DEP) will satisfy the English Language requirements for this Griffith degree.
The Direct Entry Program (DEP) is not available for Domestic students.
