The Graduate Certificate in in Health Service Management (Aged Care), developed and delivered by the Australian Institute of Health Service Management is available through the College of Business and Economics. It is a part time course, specifically focused on the effective leadership, governance and management of aged care services.
The effective leadership, governance and management of aged care services is a critical requirement to promote safe, high quality care for vulnerable older Australians; and, the financial viability of organisations. Accompanying the growth and demand for services over the next decade, is the need for well lead and managed organisations providing high quality care.
The course will critically assess the theoretical and practical knowledge, structures and systems required to effectively govern, lead and manage aged care organisations: residential care or homecare. A review and critique of governance arrangements, including accountability and transparency requirements for staff, managers and boards will be undertaken. The processes and activities to identify, monitor and improve key elements of organisational functioning, within complex health networks, will be examined.
