Diploma of Health (Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology)

Nursing, naturopathy, sport and exercise science, occupational therapy, speech pathology, psychology, biomedical science, osteopathic studies …there are so many career paths in health.

Award requirements

To be eligible to receive the Diploma of Health, students must complete 8 units (96 credit points), comprising:

• 1 specialisation in Occupational Therapy or Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology or Biomedical Science or Osteopathic Studies or Psychological Science or Nursing or Naturopathic Studies or Community Welfare.

Graduates of the course in the Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology specialisation qualify for direct entry into the relevant Bachelor course at Southern Cross University. Up to 8 units of advanced standing is included in this pathway. However, graduates of the linked Bachelor courses must provide evidence of an IELTS score (or equivalent) of 7.0, with no band less than 7.0, in order to gain professional registration.

Evidence of compliance for Placement must be provided prior to any professional experience placement and some compliance requirements can take up to 4 months to fulfil.

ATAR: 45 or Equivalent

If your ATAR is not high enough for the course you desire, you can complete one of our fee-free pathway programs – Preparing for Success Program (three-month course) or Transition to Uni (six-week intensive course over summer). These provide excellent preparation for university, equipping you with the academic and study skills you need to succeed. 

If you successfully complete a pathway course – delivered through SCU College – you may then apply for entry to a range of Bachelor degrees.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this course are as follows:

• Overall: 5.5
• Listening: minimum 5.0
• Reading: minimum 5.0
• Speaking: minimum 5.0
• Writing: minimum 5.5

Applicants or students that can provide supporting documents to verify they already know, understand and can perform the learning outcomes for one or more units within a Southern Cross course, are eligible to have their prior learning assessed for credit by submitting an application for Advanced Standing. 

Some units must be completed on-campus.
