UniSQ&#39;s Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) is ideal for graduates from any discipline who are looking to develop their mathematics/statistics knowledge and skills. Even if you haven’t studied in some time, this degree will provide you with an in-depth education in mathematical and/or statistical techniques and problem solving skills. Examine the fundamentals of theoretical and applied statistics, mathematical modelling and operations research, and computing and coding skills. Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics)

Building on your Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) or Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Statistics) degree, you will have the opportunity to increase your knowledge through study of advanced statistics courses and completion of a research project. You will conduct, and report on, a research project under the supervision of a staff member with the appropriate expertise. The Honours program will give you an appreciation of the professional standards required of the practising scientist, and the ethical challenges presented by modern science and technology. You will also participate in research teams, be introduced to advanced experimental and literature research methods, and have opportunities to make contact with the wider scientific community in the local region, elsewhere in Australia and overseas.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Applied Mathematics & Statistics)

The Undergraduate Certificate in Science is your opportunity to learn more about the world the around you, and dip your toes in an exciting future career in science.This program will introduce you to the nature and role of science in society. You’ll examine what science is, the importance of science for sustainable development, and learn about the role of ethical conduct in scientific endeavour.You’ll explore keys topics in biology, such as metabolism, growth and production, sensing and response, and adaption and evolution, and have the opportunity to apply your knowledge in practical laboratory experiences. This means you’ll be developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary to respond to industry demands, placing you in good stead for a future career in science-based growth industries, such as fermentation or salmon aquaculture. If you complete the Undergraduate Certificate in Science and wish to continue further study, you can apply for an Associate Degree in Applied Science or Bachelor of Science.

This for-credit subject is a preparatory mathematics subject intended for students who have not completed secondary school mathematics and who have insufficient background for the more advanced mathematics required for success in MAS162, MAS182 and MAS161. Fundamentals of Mathematics

This subject provides an introduction to differential and integral calculus, and basic ordinary differential equations. The concepts and techniques will be motivated and illustrated using mathematical models in engineering, the physical and biological sciences, commerce, economics, and the social sciences. Other topics include complex numbers and their applications.You are strongly advised NOT to enrol in MAS182 and MAS164 at the same time. Mathematics Basics

Advanced calculus techniques are an essential tool for scientists modelling complex systems, from electromagnetic oscillations to the spread of infectious diseases. Calculus and Linear Algebra 2

This units covers fundamental topics in discrete mathematics, computer arithmetic and logic, including: recurrence relations, solving equations graphically and iteratively, computer arithmetic, basics of counting and discrete probability, matrices and linear transformations of the plane, propositional and predicate logic, mathematical induction, Boolean algebra and logic networks. Discrete Mathematics and Logic

The subject covers basic algebra: application and transposition of formulae, indices, solution of equations, and Trigonometry. It will also cover Functions: polynomials, exponential, logarithmic; Trigonometric transformations of function, Linear Algebra, and introduction to Matrices.
This subject has been developed in order to meet Curtin University’s requirement to enter Science based courses. The subject meets the minimum mathematical pre-requisite for Curtin degrees requiring WACE Mathematics Applications and may not satisfy requirements for certain study areas requiring Mathematics Methods, Advanced Mathematics or Mathematics Specialist as pre-requisites. We advise all prospective students to liaise with third party institutions as to the suitability of the UNR07 subject meeting specific entry requirements.
