About this subject

  • At the completion of this subject students will be able to:

    1. Demonstrate the context of electrical and electronic systems in the areas of electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering applications.
    2. Identify the function of electrical and electronic components, and analyse simple circuits and systems.
    3. Explain the fundamental properties of electrical energy, its generation, transmission, distribution and utilisation.
    4. Apply basic electrical instrumentation and associated electronics to measurements in physical systems, and to the control of simple devices.
    5. Describe fundamental electrical and electronic systems in the context of renewable energy and sustainability.

  • Attendance requirements - This subject has a 3 day on-campus attendance requirement. The on-campus schedule for Study Period 4 is TBA.
  • Equipment requirements - Audio headset with microphone is required to access weekly consultation and help desk facilities.

    Students must obtain a minimum mark of 40% in the examination.
